Exciting Updates on Our Saddle Range
Here at Saddle4you we excited to share some big news on how our saddle range will be changing and expanding. After a number of months of working behind the scenes we can now share our exciting news! Firstly a bit of history!
Saddle4you was started 20 years ago, back then we were the first in NZ to have a website selling imported Quality English Saddle Brands into the Preloved market, as I found so little available to fit my own horses! Very soon after this we started to work with the Harry Dabbs Brand as they had such a huge variety of trees and models, that a saddle could be made – custom – to fit horse & rider. At this time most companies only used a couple of different trees so this was very unique!
We have had a fantastic relationship for all these years with Vale Bros who owned the Harry Dabbs & subsequently Jefferies brands. We made an affordable yet high quality range of ‘Junior’ Saddles under the Jefferies brand which were also available on different trees and have been renowned for exceptional fit & quality.
Fast forward to about 18 months ago & the brands were sold to an Indian company called Jefferies Lifestyle Ltd. This didn’t work well and this company & the factory have been closed.
Fortunately all the existing stock, machinery and saddle patterns for all the Harry Dabbs & Jefferies saddles and a number of the best saddle makers, machinists and other staff who were working at Vale Bros joined ID Saddles of Walsall, who also now own Farringtons of Walsall. ID Saddles and Farringtons are made from start to finish in Walsall, to the highest quality, no part is manufactured off site in either China or India. Jefferies Lifestyle Ltd chose to sell only the Brand names ‘Harry Dabbs’ and ‘Jefferies’ to ‘Bliss of London’ and so the saddles will no longer be made under these brand names.
ID Saddles will continue their high standard with only premium leathers and faster order times for us. So the only change you will see is that the saddles will now be made under ID Saddles' brand. Our 20-year relationship with these fabulous saddles continues here in New Zealand, with even more custom options, choices and designs.
To extend our range of saddles, we will be adding some new ID Saddles to the range, including a new Jump saddle range. Farrington of Walsall Saddles will have some of the much-loved models joining the ranks, such as the very popular Henley, International Event and Defender Sport Jump. Expect some tweaks with improved leather quality and design, but the same easy fit as Farrington was renowned for. Trial models will be coming soon!
We are really happy to work with Christine and Dane at Auckland Saddle fit, and Lucy Russell at Russell Equine, offering all our saddle brands, Farrington, ID Saddles, Custom, Aviar, and the existing Harry Dabbs saddles.

Dressage Saddles
Every dressage saddle is made by one skilled craftsman from start to finish. There is a large selection of laminated spring trees manufactured onsite ensuring the correct fit can be achieved regardless of horse shape, breed or size.
In addition to the selection of trees there is a choice of panels – Traditional or Performance. Both provide freedom of the trapezius muscle while the popular performance panel is designed to leave the horse’s back a fraction sooner than a traditional panel.
Either option will encourage your horse to engage the hind quarters with comfort and confidence. For the rider’s comfort most models are available with a choice of flap length, twists, knee pads/ blocks and leather finishes.
Jump Saddles
Jump saddles match the same quality and workmanship as the Dressage range and all are built from a selection of spring trees. Every saddle is available with the performance panel fitted as standard offering maximum comfort and freedom for the horse to excel in the jumping arena.
For the riders comfort the range offers a choice of flap lengths, twists, seat depths (deep or flat) and leather types.
Once you have experienced the feel of a top quality Jump saddle there’s no going back!
General Purpose Saddles
We have a superb collection of General Purpose saddles suitable for use in all disciplines and feature the same great qualities and craftsmanship as the dressage and jumping saddles.
There is a large selection of trees designed to fit the majority of breed types.
Our range of GP saddles have soft seats and supportive knee pads to aid rider comfort and control.
